GPPi publishes case study on "Turning Waste into Energy"

GPPi Project Manager Julia Steets contributed a case study entitled "Turning Waste into Energy: A Nigerian Initiative to Reduce Pollution and Generate Clean Energy" to "Climate Action", a compendium published by Sustainable Development International in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme.

The edited volume contains articles and cases presenting practical steps for companies to reduce their carbon footprint. Steets' contribution focuses on "Cows to Kilowatts", a Nigerian partnership for turning slaughterhouse waste into cooking gas. The partnership was a winner of the 2005 Seed Awards.

"Climate Action" has been widely disseminated, including at the UN Climate Change Conference in Bali held in December 2007. To access the book, please click here
